Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Muskeg; Tundra And Taiga” by Bob Faucher and was shot in Alaska.
“The surface of taiga, the sometimes swampy coniferous forest of high northern latitudes, and tundra, a vast, flat, treeless Arctic region of Europe, Asia, and North America in which the subsoil is permanently frozen, is covered with muskeg, a mixture of water and partly dead vegetation, frequently covered by a layer of sphagnum or other mosses,” explains Faucher. “The deciduous components change with the seasons and form a spectacular display because of their extent.”
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in the print magazine. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
Thanks to the OP- Daily (Outdoor Photographer Magazine) blog for providing their awesome photo of the day feed.
